Student Ministries
Statistics
Much of what we do comes from the research of Ed Stetzer. Over the past few years Ed's research has revealed the current trends in students thinking. His research reveals the time frame when students will chose whether or not they are going to attend church after High School and what impact their freshman year can have in College. Ed has unraveled the teenage mind just enough that Youth Pastors can see when and where the challenges really lie. The two pivotal points are the 10th grade year and their freshman year of college.
Purpose
We do not believe that students are the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. They lead from a smaller stage but a stage that is just as important as any other stage. They lead in their schools and in their sports through their attitudes and actions. The pressure they face is compounded more today than any other time in history. They face constant pressure from the internet with My Space, Facebook, Texting and Emailing, they also face the Media in the form of TV and Radio. Everywhere they look they face some level of pressure and hear and see images that challenge what they should do and what they should be. Our purpose is to reach the students in our community with the gospel and training them to face these challenges and be able to impact the lives of their friends.
WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?
Pray
We cannot pray to much for our students. They are a precious gift from God but a valuable source of leadership in a crazy world. Parents can pray for three things in our ministry:
1). Pray that we have opportunities to connect to each student.
2). Pray God stirs the heart of those in and around our ministry.
3). Pray for our students to get connect to Jesus Christ through a personal relationship with HIM.
Partnering
Partnering is not exactly what most people think it is! Partnering in a ministry is more than just supporting it with resources and finances. Partnering is getting to know the leader of our ministry. By getting to know the leader of our ministry you open up a whole new world of accountability with a student. When you know the leader of our ministry you also build an accountability with him. Alan's passion for students has driven him to want students to be more than just saved. It is his desire that they fulfill their potiential in life. He has a desire that students reach out to those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ and bring them into that relationship and help them follow Christ.
